Privacy statement - Your privacy is important to us

Energy Super collects your personal information in order to answer your queries, process your application for membership and for the purposes of our ongoing relationship with you as further described in this statement. We are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. We may disclose your personal information to third parties (eg. employers) and our service providers, including Independent Fund Administrators and Advisers Pty Ltd and ESI Financial Services Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Super), who provide administration and other services to Energy Super. We collect and may use and disclose your personal information in order to:

  • administer your account, provide insurance cover and provide services complementary to your account such as newsletters, educational offerings and access to financial advice;
  • conduct market research and analysis, develop and improve products and services, and inform you about additional products and services that may be of interest to your via direct marketing; and
  • meet legislative and regulatory obligations

If we ask for your personal information and you don't give it to us, we may not be able to provide you with any, some, or all of the features of our products or services available to you.

We generally collect your personal information directly from you but may also collect it form other organisations such as your employer, and from publicly available sources. We may also be required to collect your personal information under anti-money laundering, corporations, family, superannuation, taxation legislation, or under court/tribunal orders.

If you wish to rollover superannuation funds to a New Zealand KiwiSaver scheme we will disclose your personal information to that scheme provider.  If you wish to transfer funds from certain eligible overseas-based pension funds, we may disclose your personal information to the fund(s) in the relevant countries such as  Ireland. If you have Income Protection insurance, in some instances your personal information might be disclosed to our insurers and their business partners, reinsurers and service providers. The countries in which these recipients may be located will vary from time to time, but include the United Kingdom, United States of America and other countries where they have a presence.

The Privacy Policy also contains information on how you may access and seek correction of your personal information held, and also how to complain about a breach of your privacy and how we will deal with that complaint.
